The Mansfield Recreation Center and Library was a feasibility study commissioned by the City of Mansfield, TX to help relieve over crowding at their existing facilities. The unique approach to combine recreation and library services required a unique solution. A large community atrium was used a link between functions. The recreation side included a 3 pool natatorium, 2 court gymnasium, fitness / cardio mezzanine, group fitness, and child watch. The library side included the stack area, children's reading room, break out rooms, maker space, and admin sorting areas. A long walk jog track circulated around the gym and fitness area and into the atrium to energize the space. The atrium also included informal gathering, teen game area, and a two story play structure. The building was sited to serve as a buffer between adjacent big box retail, and a new community lawn / pond that was a focus of many of the interior spaces.
I served as project manager leading client workshops and coordinating the consultant team.
