The Secrest Recreation Center is a replacement for an aging center that sits adjacent to a community outdoor pool. The pool still had useful life so the new center was located on an opposite side of the pool. Pool mechanical systems were updated and located in the new facility. The 30.000 s.f. neighborhood center has a gymnasium, fitness / cardio room, senior focused wellness pool, and locker rooms that service the center and the existing outdoor pool. To acknowledge the former center, wood flooring from the old gym is used in the welcome desk as a finish material. The design has a contemporary feel to reflect the APEX Recreation District forward looking approach.
I served as the Project Manager while actively contributing to portions of the facility design. Lead client workshops to determine programmatic goals and design approach. Also created fees and organized consultant scopes.
